Dozens of high school music students have converged on the sprawling Bellweather Hotel in New York for the annual Statewide Festival, heedless of the horrible crime that was committed in Room 712 fifteen years before, when a newly married woman killed herself and her husband. This weekend, the young woman who witnessed the murder has returned to the hotel hoping to make peace with her haunted past. But a student goes missing from the same room just as a snowstorm blows in, trapping the guests in the hotel. Kate Racculia pays loving homage to the conventions of the classic whodunit, but the real joy of this book is its quirky prose and a cast full of colorful and poignant characters. (BH)
