It was a Monday morning in January when Vicki Myron arrived to work at the library in Spencer, Iowa. With overnight temperatures around fifteen degrees below zero, it was an unpleasant start to the week. Even worse, when she and a colleague emptied the metal book-drop box, they found a nearly frozen gray kitten inside. It could have been there all weekend and was almost dead. The vet was still closed, though, so they put it in a sink full of warm water - and discovered it was a beautiful orange tabby. By the time library and city officials decided the kitten could stay, Dewey Readmore Books had made the library an oasis in the middle of their struggling farm community and was well on his way to becoming a global ambassador for reading!
