Jilted journalist Genevieve Stewart pursues a local thief known as Robin Hood into a dark alley. Threatened by a gang of unsavory men, she's rescued unexpectedly by a handsome and enigmatic gentleman named Daniel McCaffrey. Daniel proves strangely evasive when pressed for information about his background, or the identity of the body sprawled in the alley. As Genevieve's investigation deepens, she and Daniel form a begrudging friendship. Kate Belli skillfully conjures the allure and menace of Gilded Age New York City and smartly grounds this fictional narrative in the combative alliance between the two leads, both of them flawed but fascinating.
