Much to the delight of thousands of Bas Bleu customers, Pamela Aiden's Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman series (see p. 43) gave voice to the enigmatic leading man from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. In the two-part Frederick Wentworth, Captain, Susan Kaye similarly presents Austen's Persuasion from a masculine perspective. It's such a charming story of second chances. Captain Wentworth proves quite an alluring hero-especially in this version of the tale, when you're privy to all his private thoughts! None But You (Book I) begins in 1814, when Wentworth, a now-wealthy Navy captain, finds himself (after eight years at sea with a broken heart) as a guest in his one-true-love's former home. Anne Elliot (the aforementioned true love) lives nearby, and, as events transpire, their paths cross once again. I should mention that Book I ends abruptly in the middle of the story…you'll have to wait a little while for Book II to be published. But you'll definitely want to read this exhilarating novel right away. The waiting will only make the conclusion sweeter-just ask Captain Wentworth or Miss Elliot!
