Everything in Bob and Melinda Blanchard's cookbook looks good to me. Their point of view about food is clean, fresh, and simple--with a twist! Spending part of the year in Vermont and the rest in the Caribbean island of Anguilla, they have a wide range of "basics" that they present in this sunny, bright cookbook. Cook What You Love offers delightful and varied options in recipes that are not at all intimidating. (I made the Penne with Ricotta and Spinach after getting home from work one night--delicious!) Breakfast, starters, salads, sandwiches, pasta, the main dish, vegetable and sides, and desserts--it's all covered. There's an endearing section on cooking with kids. The color photographs and lively graphic design infuse the pages with a lighthearted, island look.
