The art of stone rubbing is a centuries-old hobby that's perfect for those who love wandering through cemeteries and other historic places. Paper is taped to the headstone or historical marker, then rubbed with wax. The writing or image on the object transfers to the paper—without marring the original. Our Old Stone Rubbing Kit comes complete with two cakes of rubbing wax (they look a little like hockey pucks); five sheets of special rubbing paper (about 24"x36"); a natural bristle brush; and special residue-free masking tape to attach the paper to the headstone or brass plate. A manual explains how to make the rubbings—and then what to do with them when you get them home! All the components are neatly packaged in an easy-to-transport artist's tube.
