This fun and fast-paced word game requires a roomy tabletop, clever players, the banana-shaped bag full of tiles, and nothing else! Each competitor starts with eleven to twenty-one (depending on how many people are playing) tiles drawn from the "BUNCH" (all the tiles, arranged face-down on the table). Then, each player creates his/her own individual crossword, which may be constantly rearranged. As soon as someone incorporates all his/her upturned letters into the crossword, that player says "PEEL," and everyone draws another tile. Play proceeds— with continuous shouts of "PEEL"—until all the tiles are drawn. Then the first person to use all his/ her letters—and holler "BANANAS!"—is the winner. The instructions include several permutations of the original game, including "Banana Smoothie" (a less hectic version), "Banana Café" (a more portable variation), and "Banana Solitaire" (fun for one). Bananagrams will challenge and delight wordsmiths of all stripes. For 2-8 players, ages 7 and up.
