I'm always on the lookout for time-saving shortcuts in the kitchen, so this little cookbook - with mouthwatering photos of colorful pasta dishes and the subtitle "From Pot to Plate in Under 30 Minutes" - caught my eye. Soon enough my family was happily munching on a beautiful, fresh tomato and basil linguine, which, as promised, I'd thrown together in less than half an hour. The best part was there was only one pot to wash after the cooking was done! Next I employed some leftovers to make a creamy chicken and mushroom farfalle (delicious) and we'll soon be trying carrots, curry, and sesame on whole-wheat spaghetti. The concept is simple: All the ingredients go in the pot, and everything simmers in a small amount of water while the pasta cooks. The noodles absorb a lot of the flavor and the starches released by the pasta makes the sauce richer. It's a win-win! Armed with these thirty different recipes for meat-, fish-, veggie-, and cheese-based dishes, even the most harried cook will impress and delight diners, be they family members or dinner-party guests!
