In his second Mobile Library Mystery, Mr. Dixon Disappears, British author Ian Sansom once again involves Israel Armstrong, his hilarious mobile librarian of Northern Ireland. This time, Israel is searching for a missing department-store owner, who, incidentally, is a master magician. In addition, one hundred thousand pounds has vanished from the store's safe, and Israel finds himself under suspicion by most of the townspeople, including the police, his landlord, and his employers. As a result, he is suspended from his job and thrown out of his home (an abandoned chicken coop). But the intrepid Israel is determined to clear his name and discover the whereabouts of the missing Mr. Dixon. The story is told with great wit in a lighthearted manner that will delight the reader in every way. There has never been such an unlikely sleuth as Israel Armstrong.
